Some things c:

I've been on dA for a while, I joined to show my art to the world and to improve. So far, to me, the latter part of that statement is lacking, and I just want to let you guys know, I'm always open to critiques.

I know some may think of critiques as a taboo because of their notorious ability to piss people off, and be butt-hurt-full, but you are ALWAYS free to critique me on my work. c:

NOTE: if you are going to critique, please know how to give a good, helpful critique c:>

These, for example, are NOT critiques:

> telling me it's great, only pointing out positives (dont get me wrong, I love getting flattering comments, but they don't make good critiques |D)

> telling me that something needs work/ improvement but providing no suggestions on how to better it or specifics.

> saying that certain aspects suck/are bad/inconsistent/ anything outright negative and overall hating on the picture (even if it really is bad, please don't do this, it doesn't help)

> Saying it looks like so-and-so-artist's style and I need to change it (<--this is the worst thing you could say to anyone in my opinion, and this is what people get butt-hurt over)

> no matter how good your critique may be, it is only helpful on recent work, don't critique anything more than 3 days old please

So please dont be afraid to give critiques (though I cant dictate what a good critique is, I'm sure you all know what a helpful critique looks like, and im sure there are tutorials/guidelines/etc out there), though in no way am I saying you have to, this is just something to keep in mind. c:


THIS JOURNAL SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS A "HOW TO GIVE CRITIQUES" TUTORIAL, THESE ARE JUST SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KEEP IN MIND IF YOU GO TO CRITIQUE MY WORK, AS EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT OPINIONS/DESIRES/LIMITS ON HOW THEY WANT TO BE CRITIQUED, IF AT ALL :3
