Description
A relatively common and usually harmless amoeba, N. Fowleri is content to feast on bacteria; until it's inhaled, then it will feast on your brain. Though cases rare, once a person is infected with N. Fowleri there is little hope for survival. By the time symptoms are prevalent the brain has already been severely damaged and those that survive are often left with the debilitating aftermath.
Just don't go shooting unclean fresh water up your nose and you'll be fine...

Holy fuck this thing scares the absolute shit out of me. Thankfully I don't think we have it here in Germany, but I remember one summer refusing to go into the water even in baking hot weather because of this. I still love swimming now, but just a note to self and others: be wary of untested and unchlorinated water. I still wear nose plugs when going into freshwater sometimes.
